My career so far has primarily been based on manipulating the 26 letters of the alphabet in increasingly interesting ways.
My time at ING flexed all my creative muscles, where I had to strike the right balance between ING's warm and wonky tone of voice and important information about our customers' finances and banking needs.
I worked very closely with our internal art directors and product marketing squads to execute briefs for eDMs, landing and product pages, banners, social media and internal comms, making sure to work to deadlines while juggling legal and compliance requirements.
I was also a tone of voice champion, working with internal stakeholders and making sure copy was faithful to ING's brand guidelines.
I helped the communications team at the National Disability Services during the lead up to their 2019 CEOs’ Conference and the release of their yearly flagship report. My main tasks included editing and publishing daily website content (news, events and training); compiling, proofing and sending out EDMs using Microsoft Dynamics CRM; and creating public facing content (CEO Welcome Note).
My role at Rabobank thrust me right into the thick of things, as the Digital and Marketing departments were busy planning and coordinating the 2019 Farm2Fork Summit. I helped create content for the event's website and app, as well as for internal and external communications and social media posts to promote the event.
I was also on hand to assist with the migration of the content for Rabobank and RaboDirect's Australia and New Zealand websites during their reskin and relaunch.
As a content marketing specialist, I produced content that was filtered into Coates Hire’s marketing programs and channels. My responsibilities included developing and implementing a content strategy, creating messaging for online and offline collateral, and building collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders to achieve marketing goals.
Working as a digital copywriter at Optus made sure I had my finger in many pies.
I wrote everything from email copy to checkout forms, error messages to advertorials.
I was in charge of overseeing, tweaking, and getting legal approval for copy for the launch of Google Home, and was one of two copywriters overseeing the launch of the Apple Watch Series 3, which included writing copy for the Watch pairing with Optus customers' phones.
I revamped the copy for Optus Student Hub, and created content for Optus Perks and Yes Blog.
From November 2017, I have been the news editor for Optus' entertainment website Hype, a role that saw me interview Australian rapper 360 for a profile, create news articles on pop culture, music, and entertainment news, liaise with PR companies to promote products and events, and write advertorials for Optus products like Optus Perks and Fetch.
Optus' Entertainment website receives approximately 2.7M sessions in a one-month period, with Hype receiving approximately 400K sessions within the same period.
As a copywriter for Groupon, I embodied the company mantra 'Make Life Less Boring' by adding puns, quips, and jokes to the website content for customers and merchants alike to enjoy. Copywriters maintained a 'Groupon voice' that added some whimsy, personality, and attitude to the deal buying and selling experience, differentiating our website from our competitors while maintaining the company's global editorial standards. I consistently exceeded my 15 deals written per day KPI, and at one point doubled it a few times a month.
Until about April 2016, I was involved with crossfeaturing deals and adjusting content to feature on the OurDeal website, working on both platforms at the same time. Since then, I have been working solely on Groupon content.
From June to October 2016, I was also responsible for the OurDeal Facebook page as part of my day to day role at Groupon, and developed creative and engaging content for the page that significantly increased our reach from around 3K to around 12K in four months.
As a Deal Content Executive, my role involved adding puns and personality to deals that appeared on the website, while ensuring that all information is correct and substantiated according to ACCC guidelines.
This role also included elements of merchant communication, account management, minor image editing, fact checking, and risk and compliance checks in addition to copywriting.
OurDeal.com.au has since been bought by Groupon.com.au.
